Despite typically being portrayed as a toothless old man with a huge nose, Itzamna was the most significant god in Mayan religion.He was known as the ″Great Nose.″ However, first impressions aren’t always accurate.Itzamna, the deity of fire, is the offspring of the god Hunab Ku, the god of creation.
He is said to have created the world and to reign over heaven both during the day and at night.
At least 166 distinct gods and goddesses were revered by the Maya, giving their pantheon an overwhelming appearance. This is due, in part, to the fact that each of the gods has several facets.
In the time that passes between the conclusion of Sons of Anarchy and the beginning of Mayans Motorcycle Club, he is elevated to the position of El Padrino, which is Spanish for The Godfather, and becomes the head of all of the Mayans’ chapters.

The Maya followed a polytheistic religion, similar to that of the Aztecs; but, in contrast to the Aztecs, the Maya did not worship a single deity, whereas the Aztecs regarded Huitzilopochtli as their primary deity.The Aztecs had a holy calendar that was a 365-day agricultural calendar, and their writing system was based on glyphs.The Aztecs utilized a writing system that was based on glyphs (symbols that stand for sound or words).
Something unknown occurred before the end of the eighth century and continued until the beginning of the ninth century, during which time it shook the Maya civilization to its very core. By the year 900 A.D., the Maya civilisation in that region had come to an end, and the Classic towns that were located in the southern lowlands were abandoned one by one.
The Maya held a diverse pantheon of deities sacred to the natural world. It was believed that certain gods have greater significance and power than others. Itzamna was considered to be the most significant god in Maya religion. Itzamna, the deity of fire, is credited with the creation of Earth.
The Popol Vuh, also known as ″The Book of Council,″ tells the narrative of two well-known Mayan demi-gods who are known as the Hero Twins. Their names are Hunahpu and Xbalanque.
One of the most well-known Maya kings was K’inich Janaab Pakal, sometimes referred to as ″Pakal the Great″ by modern day historians. He reigned as king of Palenque for 68 years, which was longer than any other ruler in the Maya civilization during that time!
Yax K’uk’ Mo’ was the first king of the dynasty that controlled the Maya city of Copan (located in what is now Honduras) for a period of three hundred and fifty years. His name is pronounced ″Yash Kook Mo,″ and he established the dynasty. He ruled for eleven years, beginning in 426 CE and ending in 437 CE, and was legally known by his royal name, K’inich Yax K’uk’ Mo.
One of the most unusual and spectacular résumé in the field of contemporary dance belongs to Javier Dzul. He spent his childhood in the jungles of southern Mexico, where he was trained to perform Mayan ritual dances. At the age of 16, he ascended to the throne as the final king of his Mayan tribe.
