All about the ancient tribes
The Pawnee, just like many other Plains Indians, typically resided in big earth-covered lodges in the shape of domes for the majority of the year, but when they went on bison hunts, they opted for tepees instead. Women of the Pawnee tribe were skilled in the craft of pottery production and were also responsible for the cultivation of corn (maize), squash, and beans.
The ladies of the Pawnee tribe wore skirts made of deerskin and blouses that resembled ponchos. Breechcloths and leggings were traditional clothing for male Pawnees. The following link will take you to a website that has photographs of Indian leggings. Shirts were not commonly worn by men, although occasionally special buckskin battle shirts would be worn by warriors.

The fight known as ″Massacre Canyon″ took place in Nebraska on August 5, 1873, close to where the Republican River is now. It was the last fight or slaughter between Great Plains Indians in North America and one of the last instances of hostility between the Pawnee and the Sioux (or Lakota).
In the 1870s, the Pawnee made the decision to relocate from their reservation in Nebraska to a new reservation in Indian Territory, which was located in what is now Oklahoma. This decision was made as a result of ongoing hostilities with the Sioux as well as encroachment from American settlers to the south and east.
The Cherokee people were the most populous indigenous people in what is now the United States and Canada prior to the arrival of European settlers. Because of the largely peaceful relations that they had with early European immigrants and their desire to conform to Anglo-American norms, they were recognized as one of the so-called ″Five Civilized Tribes.″
There is abundant evidence to suggest that the majority, if not all, of the Indians who inhabited the northeastern region of the United States participated in cannibalism and other forms of torture. For example, there is documentation of the Algonquin, Huron, and Neutral tribes all engaging in the same behavior.
Crazy Horse lived from 1842 to 1987 and was a member of the American Indian Relief Council, which evolved into Northern Plains Reservation Aid after his death. Good day, ahat. Ruu’ahá’at. A ahá’at.
During this time period, the Pawnee were subjected to a number of tribulations. First, the United States forced displaced tribes from the East into territory traditionally held by the Pawnee, which led to warfare between the two groups of indigenous people. Second, in the year 1831, a deadly outbreak of smallpox swept over the area, killing almost half of the Pawnee population.
