About. The Tribe Switch is a twist that can occur at any moment in the game, and it will reassign players to different tribes. This reassignment of players will remain in force until the tribes either merge or until a fresh opportunity to switch tribes appears (e.g. a Mutiny or a second switch.)
The first time Survivor introduced a game-changing twist, it was a transfer of tribes. As a result of this twist, members of one tribe are given to the opposing tribes, and vice versa.

In earlier seasons, this process was also referred to as a merger. Because of this, the tribes will now spend the rest of the game together, huddled together in a single camp.
