Since 1915, the Cleveland baseball club has been known as the Indians. Although the Indians have won two World Series, in 1920 and 1948, the franchise now holds the record for the longest title drought among major league teams.

The Spokane Tribe of Indians is a part of the Interior Salish Group, which has a long history of habitation in the areas of northeast Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana. The city of Spokane, Washington, derives its name from them, which literally translates as ″children of the stars or the Star People.″
When the Lower Spokane clan was formed, they adopted the name s-ketsi-phl-ni, which means ″site where fish were many,″ in reference to their abundant fishing grounds at Little Falls on the lower Spokane River.
