All about the ancient tribes
Since ″the Lord God of Israel is their inheritance,″ as Joshua told them, the Levites were the only tribe of Israelites to receive towns but were not permitted to be landowners when Joshua led them into the land of Canaan. ″The Lord God of Israel is their inheritance,″ Joshua told them (Book of Joshua, Joshua 13:33).

As a result, the author of this study contends that the Levites’ loss of territory was the result of a coup by the Josephite tribes, led by Hoshea (Joshua) son of Nun from the tribe of Ephraim, who seized control of the area.
The Levites receive as their inheritance from me all of Israel’s tithes in exchange for the work they perform while serving at the Tent of Meeting. The Israelites must not come anywhere near the Tent of Meeting from this point on, or they will suffer the consequences of their sin and die.
Despite the fact that Levites are now integrated into Jewish communities, they have a separate legal standing. In the Ashkenazi Jewish community, there are around 300,000 Levites, and a similar number of Levites in the Sephardic and Mizrahi Jewish communities combined. The overall percentage of Levites among the general Jewish population is around 4%.
Introduction. Levi is first mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as one of Jacob’s twelve sons (Genesis 29:34), and as such, he is referred to as the ″father″ of one of the tribes of ancient Israel.
The Levites were in power for more than a thousand years. A subset of them, known as the kohanim, was in total command of the Temple, which served as the spiritual heart of Judaism. When the Romans demolished the Temple, the Levite aristocracy was forced to relinquish its position of authority. A new elite arose during the second age of Judaism, which took place in exile.
The Levites (migrash) were granted land for the purpose of raising cattle. In the Old Testament, only six Levitical cities were designated as cities of refuge; nevertheless, sanctuary was also accessible at cult locations marked by the ″horns of the altar″ (e.g., Exodus 21:12–14; I Kings 2:28–29).
The Lord instructed Joshua to have the people cross the Jordan River with the ark of the covenant, which was to be borne by the Levites, as the first order of business. The ark of the covenant was a sacred chest that held the Ten Commandments and the Ten Commandments of Moses (scriptures).
He will not marry a woman who has been defiled, or a prostitute for that matter. He. (Number 26:59.) According to 1 Chr (6:1-30), Miriam is the only Levite woman listed: ″The offspring of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam″ (Aaron, Moses, and Miriam) (1 Chr 6:3).

According to certain apocryphal documents, such as the Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs and the Book of the Jubilees, Levi’s wife, who was also the mother of his children, was called Milkah, who was a descendant of Aram.
