All about the ancient tribes
In the days of the Aztec empire, Nahuatl was the official language. The terms for chili pepper, avocado, and chocolate all come to us via the Nahuatl language. In the modern day, it is considered to be a critically endangered indigenous language in Mexico.
The Nahuatl language, which was formerly used by the Aztecs and is still spoken in some regions of Mexico by indigenous peoples, has been heavily influenced by Spanish and is thus very different from the Nahuatl that was used by the Aztecs.
Words from the Aztec language. Even though the written script of the language was not completely formed, there were terms for virtually everything in the language. As an illustration, the Nahuatl terms for the numbers one through five are ce, ome, yeyi, nahui, and macuil respectively. Tlacatl and cihuatl were the terms that were used to refer to men and women, respectively.
