In order to expand their kingdom, the Aztecs entered into several alliances and collaborations. The Aztecs forced the people they conquered to pay tribute, or to provide them with cotton, gold, or food in exchange for their services. The Aztecs were in command of a vast commerce network. The markets in the Aztec Empire attracted consumers and merchants from all throughout the empire.
