All about the ancient tribes
Mesoamerican peoples built pyramids from around 1000 B.C. up until the time of the Spanish conquest in the early 16th century. ( Egyptian pyramids are much older than American ones; the earliest Egyptian pyramid , the Pyramid of Djoser, was built in the 27 century BC).
In the Mayan civilization , pyramids honored the gods; in Egypt , they were tombs . In the Mayan civilization , pyramids were tombs; in Egypt , they were homes .
The sides of the Mayan pyramids look like stairs as they “rise up in stages” ( Mayan Pyramids ). On the other hand, the Egyptian pyramids ‘ sides are smooth because they are covered with “bright white limestone” (Gustafson). Both pyramids look like triangles and they have magnanimous sizes.
The designations of the pyramids— Khufu , Khafre , and Menkaure —correspond to the kings for whom they were built. The northernmost and oldest pyramid of the group was built for Khufu (Greek: Cheops ), the second king of the 4th dynasty.
The pyramids between the ancient Mayan civilization and the ancient Egyptian civilization are not related . But, it’s still interesting to think about how different cultures came up with the idea of constructing pyramids as part of their cultural identity.
The Fertile Crescent (Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt ) and Ancient India are believed to be the earliest , while Ancient China emerged somewhat later. The extent to which there was significant influence between the early civilizations of the Near East and those of East Asia (Far East) is disputed.

They developed a written language of hieroglyphs and invented the mathematical concept of zero. With their expertise in astronomy and mathematics, the Maya developed a complex and accurate calendar system.
The Mayan religion was Polytheist , and they worshiped more than 165 Gods. The Gods were human-like. The Gods were born, grew up and died.
Mayan pyramids functioned as temples, whether or not they were also tombs of high- ranking officials. Only priests were allowed to climb the stairs to the top. There they performed religious rituals including sacrifices.
Pyramids were built for religious purposes . The Egyptians were one of the first civilizations to believe in an afterlife. They believed that a second self called the ka10 lived within every human being. When the physical body expired, the ka enjoyed eternal11 life.
These pyramids have one thing in common —they were all built without advanced tools or even the wheel. It took a lot of people: 20,000 men built the Great Pyramid of Giza, most of them skilled labourers – not slaves. And it took a long time to build the Great Pyramid at Cholula, Mexico, taking 600 years to complete.
The construction of the pyramids is not specifically mentioned in the Bible . What we believe about their purpose does not impinge on any biblical doctrine.
