The tribe of Judah established in the territory south of Jerusalem and through time became to become the most powerful and influential tribe in the region. This ancient kingdom not only produced the renowned kings David and Solomon, but it was also predicted that the Messiah would emerge from among its ranks.
David was the eldest of eight sons born to Jesse, a farmer and sheep breeder from the Israelite tribe of Judah. He was the youngest of the eight boys. Many of David’s formative years were undoubtedly spent tending to his family’s sheep. His call from the fields was answered by the prophet Samuel, who anointed David as king of Israel while Saul was still in power.
Solomon was the King of Israel and the son of David during the time period of history. In the 10th century B.C., he ruled over his empire (the undivided kingdom of Israel). Eventually, after being captured by the Babylonians in 550 B.C., the area came under the control of the Persians. Up to around 330 B.C., it was under Persian control
During his lifetime, the religion of Solomon was Judaism, a monotheistic faith practiced by ancient Hebrews. However, according to the first book of Kings, Solomon had a large number of foreign spouses among his concubines.
The meaning of Hebrew. ‘Man of Peace,’ as the saying goes.
Lineage. Haile Selassie’s ancestors are traced back to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, according to many Rastafarians. Those who think Haile Selassie I is divine claim that the story of the Queen of Sheba’s visit to King Solomon, as told in the Book of Kings (1 Kings 10:1-13), gives more evidence of his divinity.
According to biblical tradition, Benjamin was one of the twelve tribes that made up the people of Israel, and he was also one of the two tribes (together with Judah) that eventually became known as the Jewish people. The tribe was named after Jacob (also known as Israel) and his second wife, Rachel, who had two children, the younger of whom was named Israel.
There it is stated that Solomon became King of Israel when he was twelve years old, and Josiah was eight years old when he was upright, and that Joash began to lead the people when he was seven years old.
Solomon is claimed to have succeeded to the kingdom when he was just approximately fifteen years old, according to legend. Solomon significantly increased the size of his armed force, particularly the cavalry and chariots.
Last week’s dispatches from the Cairo daily Mokattam said that diggers had discovered the sumptuous tomb of Solomon’s favorite wife Moti Maris of Memphis, on the Mount of the Temple (Jerusalem’s Mount Moriah), and that the tomb had been discovered by accident.
According to legend, Solomon, the third king of Israel (who ruled from 968–928 B.C.E.) had a harem that comprised 700 wives and 300 concubines (1 Kgs 11:3). In addition to the daughter of Pharaoh, he was expected to have married women from several tribes including the Moabite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite nations (1 Kgs 7:8; 11:1).
The term is derived from the Hebrew word shalom, which means ‘peace.’ Solomon, according to the Bible, is a King who is renowned for his intelligence.
