“ Yibambe ” is a battle cry which roughly translates to “Hold the Line/Hold fast/Hold Strong” It’s in Xhosa, a language originating in South Africa. John Kani. the actor who played T’chaka, used his own language to stand in for “Wakandan” along with Chadwick Boseman during the filming of Captain America: Civil War.
The new spot features an emphasis on Wakanda, with Wakandan soldiers chanting “yibambe,” which is Wakandan — aka isiXhosa, a Buntu language — for “hold fast.”
In both Black Panther and the Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Infinity War, we witness T’Challa / Black Panther rallying troops for battle. Gearing up to fight, they all chant collectively the word “yibambe”.
Set in the fictional Wakanda, the war cry, “Yibambe”, is part of a phrase that means “Hold off” or “Hold fast” in isiXhosa, one of the 11 official languages of South Africa, according to multiple media reports.
Battle of Earth Early in the battle, M’Baku was being piled by a few Chitauri, but luckily, he was able to gain the upper hand and smash his way out as he shouted at the Chitauri to die.
Later in the movie, M’Baku became an unexpected ally to T’Challa after he was overthrown by Killmonger. M’Baku returned in Avengers: Infinity War to fight alongside Wakanda’s warriors and the Avengers against Thanos ‘ hordes, and he was among the half of the universe that survived The Snap.
How does he do this? The Jabari have their own heart shaped herbs. When Nakia offers the herb to M’Baku, he declines. Partly out of honor but possibly because after his defeat at T’Challa’s hands M’Baku decided to lead his tribe he needed more strength and used the heart shaped herb to gain that strength.
Shuri is a princess of the fictional African kingdom of Wakanda. She is the daughter of T’Chaka and sister of T’Challa, who is the king of Wakanda and the Black Panther, an earned title and rank given to the paramount chief of the nation. Shuri (character)
