The Rocky Boy’s Reservation, headquartered at Rocky Boy’s Agency, encompasses approximately 122,000 acres. The reservation is home to 55% of the 6,177 enrolled Chippewa & Cree tribal members. The name “Rocky Boy” was derived from the name of a leader of a band of Chippewa Indians.
In the United States, Cree people historically lived from Lake Superior westward. Today, they live mostly in Montana, where they share the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation with Ojibwe (Chippewa) people. Cree.

Broken Rock Reservation is an Indian Reservation located near Bozeman, Montana and Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Their High Chief is Thomas Rainwater, a wealthy casino mogul with a vision to expand the reservation and take Dutton’s land by any means.
The majority of this population comes from Montana’s twelve tribal nations: Assiniboine, Blackfeet, Chippewa, Cree, Crow, Gros Ventre, Kootenai, Little Shell Chippewa, Northern Cheyenne, Pend d’Oreille, Salish and Sioux.
The Fort Belknap Reservation is home to two tribes, the Assiniboine, or Nakoda, and the Gros Ventre, who refer to themselves as A’aninin or “People of the White Clay.” Combined enrollment is approximately 4,000.
These tribal nations govern seven reservations that comprise nine percent of Montana’s land base. There are also many Indian people, from all of the tribes, who live off-reservations in towns and cities across Montana.
