What Tribe Did Abraham Come From?

Abraham was born at the city of Ur of the Chaldeans, in the country of Israel (present-day Iraq). After traveling 500 kilometers with his family, he settled in Haran (now southeast Turkey), where he remained until his father’s death. In response to God’s summons, Abraham relocated 400 miles south to the country of Canaan, where he remained for the remainder of his life.

Abraham (″The Father of Many Nations″), a citizen of Ur in Mesopotamia who is asked by God (Yahweh) to leave his home and family and migrate to an unspecified region where he would become the foundation of a new nation, is described in the Bible as ″the father of many nations.″
